Thursday Thirteen #5 - Cancelled TV Shows

Thirteen TV Shows Which I Wish Hadn't Been Cancelled
  1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - I was late to start watching Buffy, but quickly became obsessed. And not just because of Spike. It was a really cool show, with it's own back story and mythology. Coolest. Show. Ever. Oh, and Spike. I have every season on DVD. Come over and we'll have a Spike Buffy marathon.
  2. Sex and the City - Was there ever a better show about the lives of single girls? Laverne and Shirley? Puh- lease. Remember when the bouncy seat broke? Funky spunk? hehe Can't wait for the movie!
  3. The Sopranos - Tony was the baddest, bad ass around. And I loved the theme song too. I've never enjoyed a killer so much as I did Tony. Well, except for Spike.....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

  4. Oz - I can't imagine anyone committing a crime if they had to sit through a couple of seasons of Oz first. I can hardly watch Law and Order: SVU without imagining Det. Stabler as Keller. And can you say full. frontal. nudity. Male variety. Now you don't see that often.
  5. Angel - Angel started off on Buffy, so of course I had to watch it. Angel was the baddest good guy vampire around. Ok, so he was the only one around. Until Spike. Notice how it always comes back to Spike....
  6. Melrose Place - Do I even need to say why Melrose Place rocked? That bitch Amanda. That wuss Billy. That hottie Jake. The first Evil Doc, Michael. I. Loved. It.
  7. Everwood - Everwood rocked. How could people not watch this show? Teenage angst, adult drama, a tale of fish out of water? Loved it. I guess you already knew that though or it wouldn't be on my list.
  8. Veronica Mars - Veronica was the smartest chick in town. She kicked the bad guys asses and took names. I wish I was as smart and cool as Veronica. And I've yet to see the first season. Can someone please bootleg me a copy and put it in the mail?
  9. Married with Children - Al Bundy rocks. And Peg. And Bud. And Kelly. Remember that episode where they were going on vacation and got stuck in traffic on the interstate? hehe Just the best comedy ever. Plus hubby and I used to sell shoes so we can relate.
  10. Chicago Hope - This show made me want to be a doctor. I was just too lazy. I loved Mandy Patinkin and Mark Harmon was hot. I even had a little crush on Dr. Shutt from time to time. I've enjoyed the reruns, but haven't seen one in a while.
  11. Ally McBeal - This was the craziest show around at the time it was on. It was so different. That dancing baby just killed me. And totally turned me on to Barry White.
  12. Rome - If you didn't see the two short seasons of Rome, go , now. Buy the DVDs. I understand that this wasn't cancelled due to ratings, but due to high production costs. It was excellent, just excellent. Oooh, and men in togas, too!
  13. Daria - Angst. Sarcasm. Cynicism. What more could you ask for in a cartoon? Plus she escaped from Beavis and Butthead. That should earn her a spot on any lists she wants.

The only one I have ever seen was Daria. I watched Alli McBeal once, and I was like 7, so the baby? Freaked me out. My cousins would run around screaming "Ogachunka" (Or whatever the baby said) at me all the time.

But, I LOVVVED Daria.

For long running shows that I watch, I don't mind when they get cancelled. I would rather see a show go out on top than to watch it go through a sad, slow decline. Although I was a big fan of "Married With Children", 10 seasons was good enough for me.

I just started watching Veronica Mars (a friend loaned me the Season 1 DVD set). I think that it is excellent so far. I am looking forward to seeing all 3 seasons. As for Melrose Place, I gave up on that when Jo's baby was kidnapped twice within the span of a few weeks. That was probably a couple of seasons before it went off the air.

This was a nice trip down memory lane.

9 & 10 are the only ones I've watched.
Happy TT!

Can you believe I still haven't rented Rome? There was a mini-series the summer before last about Octavian's rise & Antony's fall that I loved, but I don't have HBO so never saw Rome. I need to...I know...I know..

I loved Daria!!!

And my husband was a bug Buffy fan.

My current obsession is Bones. Because even though I never had a thing for Angel, Agent Sealy Booth makes my nethers tingle.

I. cannot. believe. you. left. off... GILMORE GIRLS. Stunned. Stunned. It was perhaps the best show (at least in terms of dialogue) that's ever graced the TV. However, I have to agree with 3 of your list so it's all good.

Buffy and Angel are in my home on DVD and we watch an episode every night. Yes we just do one whole series and then the next. Then we add Firefly (which by the way is also a crime of a cancellation. And Chicago Hope was so much better than ER and it just didn't have the watchers. Ah well, who am I in the choices of television shows.

My TT is up and running.

To answer your question, the crumbs are graham crackers. Regular for the path, and chocolate for the graveyard. I was going to use oreo's, but didn't want to sit and scrape all the middles out, so this was easier. Thanks for the compliment, I'm pretty proud of it!

LOL You missed a few but I love the ones you do have up there.

Oh how I love me some Buffy... I never watched it while it was on, luckily, FX used to rerun it, and that's when I caught them all. I used to be late for work all the time, because they'd show two episodes back to back in the morning. I hated my job at that time, and didn't care that because of Buffy I was late.

Serina Hope said...

I loved Buffy too. With all my soul. I lust for Spike like no other. The end of that show was hard on me. It was a very emotional tough time...Very sad. Great list. I am in for the Spikathon.

You just took me back to my college days, when my roommate and I would haul out the junk food, take the phone off the hook and turn on Melrose Place.

Remember when Billy bleached his hair?

Also loved Sex and the City, most especially the episode in which Samantha milks the cow.

sex in the city is my fav. i just finished the entire series, i still have the BONUS dvd to watch with the alternate endings. which i can not wait to see, and the movie.
OZ, i didn't watch it faithfully, i found i would come across it late at night and NOT be able to turn it off. i found it so hard to watch but even harder to turn off. when the young guys go in and the aryan guys take one and make him wear pigtails and a halter. it sticks with me !!!

Sex and the City - I am STILL suffering from withdrawals. And I had totally forgotten about Daria! It was awesome...freakin' awesome.

I've only seen Veronica Mars and Ally McBeal, hadn't heard of half the others. You have exotic tastes!

Thea said...

I've heard of all of them, but the only one I watched (sporadically, at best)was Ally. That picture you have is hilarious for her show!

Bren said...

I soooo miss The Sopranos. Another show I still miss is NYPD Blue. Love me some Jimmy Smits and I just can't get into that new show he's in.

Queeny said...

I too was obsessed with Buffy, Angel and Sex and the City... and sometimes Ally McBeal. The others I can live without.

My2Suns said...

I am still in love with Angel, it's the only reason I watch Bones! He is such a HOTTIE! We could do a marathon......

This is the best Thursday Thirteen I have EVER seen! LOVE IT! We could have SUCH a good conversation about some of these!

Oz and Rome are two of my faves! When are we going to Photoshop? hint hint

Yeah, I know it's not Thursday anymore, but I had to tell you what a great list this was. Buffy - Hands down - best.show.ever! I watched it from the beginning, and anyone who knew me for the 7 years it was on knew that Tuesdays at 8PM I didn't answer my phone! (I too loved Spike and in turn Angel too), SATC I actually only watched after it was cancelled, but it was great because I got to watch all 6 seasons in about 6 months on On Demand. GREAT show!

Everwood was great too, I agree! And Daria, OMG, I loved that show!

I've never seen an episode of Veronica Mars, but have intentions of renting the dvds one of these days.

Anyway, I've blabbed long enough, but this was a great list, I could go on and on about it! ;-)

Ohhhh, I loved Buffy and Angel. Fabulous in soooo many ways. ;D

And I loved Ally McBeal and Sex and the City.

I've never heard of Oz though, but it looks intriguing.

Hope you're ok sweetie.

hey blue momma:
how are you today sweetie?

i used to be sooooo addicted to melrose place when it was on years ago. i would pick my college class schedule based on not missing that night of the show. and when i had to miss the show because of a class that was only offered then, one of my co-workers faithfully would tape it for me. he was a doll to do that for me and we would talk about what happened on the previous episode. oh, you brought back memories for me girl. i am smiling. so glad it was canceled though, because i needed to be released from the hook. ha. happy friday wild you, kathleen :)
